BUILDING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS IN THE CHURCH

The Explanation

One of our favourite sayings at IKON Church is, “Healthy things grow.” This is true when it comes to building healthy friendships / relationships in the church.

From the beginning of the Bible to the end, relationships are a central theme and, in particular, God’s desire for us to be in a relationship with him.

  • God gives us the perfect example of the perfect relationship seen in the Trinity.

  • God sets up humanity for a successful relationship with Himself and one another.

  • Humanity’s relationship with God is broken because of its rebellion against God.

  • This brokenness permeates all of our relationships.

  • Jesus died to restore our relationship with God and with one another.

The Practice

  • Join - a connect group / team as this is an easy step to meet new people

  • Be intentional - begin to weave connecting with others into the weekly/monthly rhythm of your life

  • Go First - don’t wait to be invited instead, invite someone or some people to meet with you

  • Practice hospitality - open your heart and your home to others

  • Have fun - connecting does not need to be complicated; it should be fun as you gather around something you enjoy!
